My heritage is English on my Mother’s side and Czechoslovakian on my Dad’s side.  Years ago, I chose to name this blog Labuznik (la-booge-nik), which is Czech for gourmand or the lover of good food because of my upbringing around food and cooking.  In addition, it was also a nod to a beloved Seattle restaurant of the same name, that has long since closed.

This blog started out honoring my relationship to food and cooking.  Over the years it has developed into something much more.  Part therapeutic and empowering confessional, part cosplay journey, part personal growth and whatever else I’ve wanted to write about and share in the moment.  It’s really a mixed bag . . . of who I am.

Instead of starting a new blog focusing on travel (highlighted by a big trip to Egypt in October of 2023), I have decided to keep everything here.  As I’ve said, this blog is a little bit of everything.
